I’m happy you’re here.

 A Message From Shaina

Hello! I’m Shaina, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m delighted you’ve found your way to the Sivan Therapy Center, where I offer Psychotherapy services across New York and California.

My journey in therapy is deeply rooted in a passion for understanding and empathy, which are foundational to effective therapeutic relationships. I specialize in working with neurodivergent folx, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My approach with neurodivergent clients is from a place of deep empathy and an understanding of the challenges posed by navigating spaces that were not designed with them in mind. This has led me to place a special emphasis on helping the Autistic community explore and heal in their sexuality—a topic too often overlooked in broader societal discussions.

Last summer, I furthered my commitment to this work by completing a Sex Therapy Certificate training program. However, I firmly believe that the most valuable insights come from my clients, who are the true experts in their own lives. Their experiences continue to teach me and shape the way I practice therapy.

Additionally, my work extends to supporting individuals who have navigated or are navigating the complexities of leaving or remaining within the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. As someone who has personally transitioned away from this community, I possess a unique perspective on the nuanced challenges, particularly around cultural norms and sexual identity, faced by those within and outside of these environments.

At Sivan Therapy Center, I consider my role as your therapist a sacred privilege. It’s a collaboration where you are the expert, and together, we will work towards your goals using a relational and strength-based approach. Drawing from the methodologies of Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Gottman Institute, and Irvin Yalom—and not forgetting a healthy dose of humor—I aim to create a supportive and transformative therapy experience.

I am a trauma-informed therapist and affirm all identities, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals. Prior to establishing my own practice, I gained extensive experience working at a couple’s center, in school-based services, and at a psychiatric hospital, receiving ongoing training in areas ranging from couple’s therapy to cultural competence in therapeutic settings.

In my free time, I cherish moments spent at the beach with my dog, Sivan, after whom the center is named, biking, swimming, and enjoying time with my family. I also occasionally find myself daydreaming about the delicious pastries from my hometown of Brooklyn!
